AEGD 2 Years After Graduation
Has anyone gone back to do an AEGD after they graduated?
My backstory is that I graduated in 2022 and have been practicing part time for a large DSO. I picked up one day a week in a private office at the beginning of the year, but I feel like my skills are not progressing so I am thinking about applying to an AEGD this cycle. With the large DSO, we have specialists that come in and perform all the specialty care. In the private office, the patient’s I see don’t need that much work and since it’s just a day a week, most of the patients see the owner for their treatment anyways.
The owner of the private offices knows I have limited experience with root canals and extractions and has told me to not try anything I’m not confident will be successful with his patients. I work at this office on Fridays and the owner is not willing to provide much mentorship. Would it be a waste of time to go back and do an AEGD and more of the same when I graduate? Or should I just try and figure it out on my own?
