Synopsis: This event will focus on the legal issues surrounding a dental practice transition or partnership and the consequences that may arise as a result of failing to properly address common complications. The presentations will highlight legal concerns associated with buying, selling, or expanding a dental practice from the perspective of both the buyer and the seller. Attendees should leave with a general understanding of the common legal obstacles associated with the sale of a dental practice as well as how insurance participation and cash flow may affect a practice transition.
- Discuss due diligence when purchasing a practice.
- Understand how restrictive covenants, accounts receivable, defective or prepaid work provisions, and other legal concerns should be addressed during a partial buy-in.
- Understand why strong profit and cash flow are essential to a successful transition.
- Review the impact of insurance participation on a practice sale.
- Learn how to assemble a team of advisors to guide you through the processes of buying or selling an existing dental office.
- At the end of the lectures attendees should have a general understanding of the legal issues they will likely encounter in connection with a dental practice transition or buy-in, as well as a suggested course of action for resolving such issues as they arise.

Dr. Paul Goodman is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine. Paul has been practicing dentistry for over 10 years and works with his brother in two locations in Mercer County, NJ. In addition to private practice, he teaches dental residents at Albert Einstein Medical Center as well as lectures to dentists on placing and restoring dental implants. Paul is also a part of the United Dental Brokers of America team. He has purchased three dental practices and is looking forward to sharing his personal experience with the transition process. He works well with retiring dentists in managing the expectation of their patients and team members during the transition process.
